|Certificate of Conformity|
By virtue of articles 3 and 12 of SASO by - laws issued by the Royal Decree No. M/10 dated 1392(H) - 03-03, SASO issued this part of the Quality Mark, Certificate of Conformity and Accreditation of Services Regulations which deals with the Certificate of Conformity to standards. It is applicable to local, exported and imported commodities.
SASO belief that conformity of imported commodities to standards should be proved by a neutral authority, helped in application of standards and protection of both consumer and importer. Certificates of Conformity also help facilitate commercial exchange (e.g. when granted to a certain batch of production for export according to the standards of the importing countries), Which would in turn, help encourage national production and increase its chances of competence in the foreign markets.
For all these reasons, it is hoped that application of this part would help protect consumer and initiate progress of industry and growth of economy in all fields.
For the purposes of this part of the regulations the following definitions shall apply
The Saudi Arabian Standards Organization.
The Final Product to which this part applies.
Any factory or production unit producing the commodity or any organization distributing it.
|4.||Certificate of Conformity
Certificate issued by SASO indicating that the homogeneous group of the commodity to which the certificate refers conforms to the relevant standard.
A person assigned by SASO to carry out inspection duties described in these regulations.
SASO laboratories or any other laboratory accredited by SASO to carry out tests.
A fixed lot or batch of a commodity either imported or exported.
This part of the regulations relates to firms which applying to SASO to obtain a certificate stating conformity to Saudi standards for a particular lot of a commodity. Firms can apply to SASO to obtain a certificate stating conformity to standards of the country to which a particular lot is exported.
The firm shall be fully responsible for violations of this part of the regulations without any responsibility on the part of SASO. SASO shall take necessary proceedings in case of any violations.
SASO shall grant the firm a certificate of conformity when the following conditions are fulfilled:
The firm applying to SASO for a certificate of conformity shall present a separate application for each particular lot and shall pay special attention to completing the forms prepared by SASO for this purposes; pledging that all information given in them is correct.
The following procedures shall be followed by SASO to F276 grant a Certificate of Conformity:
Any individual or firm using or advertising the certificate in any media without permission from SASO, shall be subject to penalties stated in the Law of Commercial Adulteration without prejudice to penalties mentioned in any other Law.
